Why bjj ?

BJJ focusses on using technique and leverage over size and strength. It improves the coordination of the child’s body and it has been proven that it increases the mental focus. BJJ classes are great workouts for children. These classes will consist out of warmups, technique, games and rolling. Furthermore the children will learn together and train together. The instructors will give equal attention to all the students and their progress. Allowing your child to participate and improve each class instead of just watching other students getting better.

There are sports that are based on the season. However BJJ is a sport that can be practiced year round. This allows the activity being practiced continuously. As we believe steady and easy leads to real progress.

As it is an individual sport this removes the pressure for children of letting teammates down, all the while teaching the child can solve the problem on their own. This stimulates the child to build his or her own character and self-confidence.

During the classes the child will interact with other children. The focus will be on team building and socializing in a friendly manner. Inappropriate behavior such as bullying is not tolerated by the instructors. BJJ may be an individual sport however the child will have the opportunity to train with other children to help each other grow.

Direction
Kids participating in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu learn how to set goals, the knowledge necessary, and to do the work needed to achieve them.
Fitness
Participating in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu will improve the overall fitness level of kids who attend class regularly. Kids engage in a series of conditioning, stretching and strength exercises as part of their regular training.
Coordination
Brazilian Jiu Jitsu contains a progressive series of movements that improves the coordination of participants. Training in BJJ requires learning grappling techniques and putting them together in a string of movement.
Confidence
Training in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu improves the confidence of kids that will carry over into all venues of their lives. Through a series of challenges kids learn how to approach new situations and successfully navigate them.
Self-Esteem:
Kids develop enhanced self-esteem as a outcome of consistent training in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu. The success that kids experience as part of their training builds a self-respect that translates into self-esteem.
Self-Defense:
Although most students of Brazilian Jiu Jitsu do it for the sport, kids learn valuable self-defense skills as well.
